RailModeller Pro 6.1: Library Catalog QuickFilter, JMRI Export and more

2019-06-18 07:00

RailModeller Pro 6.1 is now available on the Mac App Store with a number of new and improved features, including:

  • New QuickFilter in the Library Catalog
The new QuickFilter allows you to show only e.g. curved tracks or crossings to quickly locate the types of tracks you need right now when designing your layout. This can significantly improve the design experience in particular when working with extensive track systems.

  • JMRI Export
A RailModeller Pro layout can be exported to be used in the PanelPro application of the popular, free JMRI package for computer-controlled model railroads. This makes all tracks in a layout as well as most types of turnouts and crossings available in JMRI without any additional effort.
For more information about JMRI please visit the project's website at http://jmri.org/.

  • Improvements to Community Layouts
We have improved all aspects of the Community Layouts feature making it easy to browse the most popular layouts or model scales in a new leaderboard, find related layouts in the overhauled details view, or quickly spot the overall dimensions for layouts shared by our community of fellow model train hobbyists.
Individual layouts can now also include a web URL (e.g. for photos of the build process or the finished layout).

  • Enhanced 3D Mode
A new settings panel offers additional control over the 3D viewing mode such as optionally hiding tunnel tracks, a new dark mode and other customization options as well as a new function to export an image of the current 3D scene.

Additional changes in this update include a new Visible Layers filter mode in the Part List, tracks can now be positioned anywhere between -10m and 10m (-30 to 30 feet), enhanced functionality for editing baseboards and optimizations for running the app on small laptop screens.

RailModeller Pro 6.1 requires macOS 10.11 or newer and is available exclusively on the Mac App Store.
The update is free for existing users of RailModeller Pro and earlier, installed versions of the app are updated automatically by macOS' built-in Software Update mechanism.

RailModeller Pro 6.0: Introducing Community Layouts

2018-01-31 07:00

We are excited to announce that our major update RailModeller Pro 6.0 is now available on the Mac App Store introducing Community Layouts! This unique feature allows users of our model train planning app to easily

  • Share and present your layouts in the cloud
Upload a layout using the new Share button in the toolbar and make it instantly available for all users of the app to view and discuss with just a few clicks without leaving the app!

  • Browse layouts created by the community
As the collection of layouts grows it becomes a great source of inspiration for building your own railway empire - or you can simply enjoy what others have built and browse the layouts by model scale, author, upload date or other criteria.

  • 'Like' great layouts
You can 'like' layouts you find particularly nice and help other users of the app to discover great layouts as they show up in the category of popular layouts (as per community vote).

  • Get in touch!
We make it easy to get in touch with fellow model railroaders to ask questions, comment on layouts or just talk about this great hobby - while at the same time protecting your privacy and letting you decide who can see your contact information.

We have planned a number of additional features to make the new Community Layouts feature even more enjoyable that we will roll out in the coming months once we've made sure the core functionality works robustly across our entire user base.

RailModeller Pro 6.0 requires macOS (OS X) 10.10 or newer and is available exclusively on the Mac App Store.
The update is free for existing users of RailModeller Pro and earlier, installed versions of the app are updated automatically by macOS' built-in Software Update mechanism.

RailModeller Pro 5.4: Localized Libraries, multi-color and scalable elements

2017-10-26 06:00

RailModeller Pro 5.4 is now available on the Mac App Store introducing improved and new track libraries.

For this update we have revised all of our more than 200 track libraries bundled with the app and upgraded them to a new, extended format enabling many new features, including:

  • Fully localized library names and element descriptions
All 6000+ elements now come with native descriptions in English and German with further translations added down the road. Existing layouts will be upgraded automatically to use the localized descriptions.

  • Scalable libraries for all model scales
Our new TruScale libraries automatically adapt elements to any model scale. The libraries including accessories like houses, cars, plants and railway signs can be used in any model scale. Elements are scaled automatically to the appropriate size for the layout. More TruScale libraries will be added in the coming months.

  • Multi-Color elements
Libraries can now contain elements with multiple colors allowing elements to be easily identified - think railway crossings, semaphore and light signals, accessories - as well as enabling you to create visually compelling layouts.

These are just some of the features made possible by our new libraries. A number of additional changes will be unlocked in the coming months as we take full advantage of our 'smarter' libraries to drive exciting, new features in our track planning apps.

We're also planning to make our new library editor available to all users at a later point enabling you to create your own libraries - and share them instantaneously with the entire user community directly from within the editor!

RailModeller Pro 5.4 requires macOS (OS X) 10.10 or newer and is available exclusively on the Mac App Store.
Installed apps are updated automatically by macOS' built-in Software Update.
